A theatrical option that allows guests to visit when it suits them, food stations are perfect for themed events, functions in outdoor spaces or events that call for less space to be allocated to food prep. It could be a noodle or pasta bar, tossed high into the air for dramatic effect; a sushi station with fish carved live before guests; or a kitchen counter featuring our bona fide Swiss raclette machine with Dan the Man scraping hot, oozing cheese onto sliced baguettes.
For a medieval themed 21st birthday party, we knew the youngsters would be more interested in the dance floor and a solid feed than dainty canapés – and in need of a proper meal after plenty of champagne toasts. We set up an alfresco tent complete with a Middle Ages-style pig on the spit, pulling the roasted pork into crusty rolls topped with pickled cabbage and apple chutney. Hearty and satisfying, the last of it was polished off at 3am after guests had danced their socks off.
