On our journey towards zero waste, we learnt a tonne not only about getting rid of waste, but more importantly, how to embed creative approaches to designing waste out of the system in our organisation. Through a variety of practices such as User-centred design, non-linear and systems thinking, and adaptive leadership, we came up with an interactive, whole hearted and innovative approach to waste reduction. The best part about our process, is that we’ve come up with new business ideas we wouldn’t have thought of had we not decided to embark on this journey. In our approach, we’ve proven limitation really does lead to innovation.

"We humans often fall into the trap of thinking we need another product to solve the problem. If you want to get rid of
gladwrap - buy beeswax; if you want to get rid of plastic bags – buy a tote bag; if you want to get rid of disposable coffee cups – buy a keep cup. Often the substitutes are better, but are we missing an opportunity to be next level better and create more brand engagement than simply doing straight swaps?"
